To me this quote shows what war can do to a family. It can tare apart a family, it makes you miss the one you love, and most of all it sometimes takes the one you love.

I still hadn't made up my mind which side I was on in the war, and I didn't care whether Sam was a patriot or a Tory or what. all I could think about was snuggling up to him and listening to him talk about scoring telling points.

to me this quote means that sometimes you have to try to forget about war and try to live your life, and try not to let it affect you and the people around you, because if you do, that will be what you think about most of the day instead of what is really important like your family and friends.

I didn't feel like his little brother so much anymore, I felt more like his equal." To me this quote means that if you join the army you should join it for the right reasons, not just for the uniform.

To me this quote means that the dead have sacrificed there lives for the living to have what ever they are fighting for, in this book "My Brother Sam is Dead" their own country. If it weren't for the men and women that have died in Iraq we wouldn't have the feeling of safety that we have now, and we wouldn't have this great country if it weren't for the men and women that have died in past wars.
